Huang Yuan-ming, a retired elementary school teacher and nature enthusiast, shared his insights on his “Alishan: Strolling Above the Clouds” Facebook page, noting that the roadside maples along the Shizilu section of Taiwan Provincial Highway No. 18 are also a must-see. The green maples in this area, especially between the 79K and 83.5K markers, are at their most vibrant.

Huang further pointed out that the trident maples along the 88K and 90.8K sections of Highway No. 18 are changing daily, displaying an ever-changing spectrum of colors.

Temperature Drop Expected to Enhance Maple Foliage Colors

The Central Weather Bureau has forecast a cold air mass to move southward, affecting Taiwan from Saturday onward. The temperatures in northern Taiwan and the Matsu Islands will drop to as low as 10°C by Sunday and Monday, further intensifying the colors of the maple trees in the coming days. This cooling effect is expected to make the already colorful foliage even more vivid.
